WHA Members Only: Final Stark AKS Rules Webinar
March 16, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
In closing out 2020, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) published historic revisions to regulations governing the federal physician self-referral law (Stark Law), Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS), and beneficiary inducement Civil Monetary Penalties (CMP) laws. The new regulations, most of which became effective on January 21, 2021, present opportunities in the health care industry for novel arrangements and provide clear guidance on some common compliance concerns impeding innovation.
Please join us for a virtual presentation with lawyers from Nixon Peabody LLP on how these long-awaited revisions attempt to tackle roadblocks to care coordination and value-based care. Topics include:
- Minefield of risks in the health care industry, including background on Stark Law, AKS and CMP laws;
- Overview of key changes to Stark Law exceptions, and AKS and CMP safe harbors;
- Implications of the new regulations for your organization, including shifting government enforcement priorities and evolving compliance expectations; and
- Practical implications and new opportunities created by the rules, include shifting physician compensation models and valued-base arrangements.
