About Jeanne Markland
Chief, IT Strategy & Integration
Information Systems & Solutions | CareConnect | UCLA Health System
Jeanne Markland led the EHR implementation (CareConnect) for all outpatient programs at UCLA Health System. CareConnect is UCLA’s name for their Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform, which began its year-long deployment on March 1, 2013. An estimated 18,000 faculty and staff members use CareConnect, including physicians, pharmacists, nurses, advanced-practice nurses, other clinicians, trainees, students, and staff members working with scheduling, registration, billing, patient placement (ADT), and hospital information management (HIM). Within 9 months of the inpatient go-live, UCLA Health system was awarded HIMSS Stage 7.
With the Ambulatory rollout recently completed, Jeanne now provides operational leadership for the applications supporting the outpatient practices and is leading the IT strategy development. In addition, she is responsible for IT integration for all affiliations and acquisitions.
Prior to UCLA, Markland brought more than 10 years of business- and technology-related management consulting experience to CareConnect, having previously worked with Deloitte Consulting and Point B. Her Epic experience prior to UCLA included stints at UC Davis and MemorialCare Health System. At UC Davis she managed development of the methodology, tools, and templates for conducting hospital-wide process redesign; at MemorialCare she worked for the executive project director as advisor and project manager.
She received her BA in biochemistry from Wellesley College and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. She has a vivacious and unruly 6-year old daughter whose dream is to be an artist and eat candy all day.
WHA is dedicated to the professional growth and development of women in the healthcare industry.
