How to Handle a Complaint of Harassment or Discrimination Before it Becomes a Lawsuit

Workplace culture and the implicit and explicit biases of individual employees can lead to situations in which incidents of sexual and racial harassment or discrimination can occur.  While companies can and should take proactive steps to avoid these incidents, it is important to be prepared for how to handle complaints of harassment or discrimination when they arise.  In this presentation, Alyson C. Decker will discuss effective workplace cultural changes, legal mitigation tactics, and walk you through the types of complaints that can be raised and ways to handle them so as to prevent a costly legal battle.

About the Presenter:

Alyson C. Decker is a civil litigator and trial attorney specializing in employment law, business litigation, complex cases, and entertainment and high-profile matters.  Prior to moving to Ventura County and joining Lowthorp, Richards, McMillan, Miller & Templeman, Alyson worked at several well-known boutique and national firms in the Los Angeles County area and continues to practice throughout Southern California. She has an extensive background in strategic planning for legal cases, law firms, and businesses, and prides herself on her ability to find unique and creative solutions to the problems faced by both her individual and business clients.
